Fluffy Record: Maine Coon from Minnesota entered the Book of Records for the longest tail (3 photos)

A two-year-old Maine Coon named Pugsley Addams from Minnesota has officially become the owner of the world's longest tail among domestic cats. His tail was measured by veterinarians and was an impressive 46.99 cm.





The furry record holder lives in the city of Mound with the Cameron family and three other Maine Coons - sisters Winnie and Duchess, as well as brother Gomez. The owners admit that Pugsley's long tail has always attracted attention, but now it has received recognition on a global level.

“The vet immediately noticed his tail: ‘That’s a really long tail.’ Then I really looked at it and thought: ‘Yes, that’s really long,’” owner Amanda Cameron said.

The family later discovered that there was a world record for the longest cat tail — and Pugsley had surpassed it.

Pugsley comes from a breed known for its size and fluffiness. Maine Coons are considered the largest domestic cats, and are adapted to snowy winters — they have powerful paws, thick fur, and tails that they use as blankets. Pugsley is not yet fully grown — Maine Coons typically take four to five years to grow.



Pugsley's personality is that of a "baby in trouble." Amanda describes him as "mischievous but very affectionate." He knows commands, loves to play fetch, and follows people around. "Eat. Beg. Eat. Sleep. Beg. Eat. Sleep. Eat. Beg. Play. Eat. Sleep" is how his day goes.

Pugsley's tail is truly outstanding: it often gets in the way in the kitchen and becomes an easy target when playing with other cats. Amanda admits that she has to be especially careful not to step on his tail, which is almost 30 cm longer than the other cats.

Pugsley is not the only one in the family named after the characters of The Addams Family. His brother Gomez, a black Maine Coon, is, according to his owner, a “gently aggressive romantic,” while Pugsley, like his on-screen prototype, is smart, curious, and an incorrigible prankster.
