Orange king rescued in Canary Islands
People have discovered a rare deep-sea fish known as the oarfish on the beach of Playa Quemada in the Canary Islands.
The live fish with a snake-like body was spotted by swimmers. It ended up in shallow water and swam to shore. Oarfish reach 10 meters in length, but the fish from Playa Quemada was much smaller. The find was captured on video. In the recording, a man takes the oarfish in his hands and poses with it. It is noted that he then saved the fish: he helped it swim to the depths.
The oarfish is considered one of the most unusual fish in the world's oceans. It spends most of its life at a depth of more than 900 meters and almost never rises to the surface. It is believed that the appearance of the oarfish at the surface of the water foretells cataclysms.
