The police identified the offender using footage from traffic cameras. They show that he was too close to the rear of the car in front. This did not lead to an accident, but the fact of dangerous driving is obvious.

The driver tried to challenge the penalty in court, but was unsuccessful. Now, in addition to the fine of 110 thousand dollars, he must pay 14.5 thousand dollars in legal costs. True, the main amount can be kept in the account if the offender's behavior on the road is ideal for two years.

Switzerland is not the only country in the world with this approach. In 2023, Finn Anders Wiklöf, one of the richest people in the country, was fined 121 thousand euros for speeding. He drove at 82 km/h where 50 km/h is allowed.
