Brussels' Biggest Peeing Boy (10 Photos + 1 Video)
This bronze pet is called the peeing dog or the peeing boy by the city dwellers.
The Brussels statue is one of the most famous sculptures in the world. Variations of the famous peeing baby can be found in gardens and fountains around the world. The cuteness of this little guy cannot be underestimated.
Less well known is that he not only has a female counterpart, but also an animal one - a dog known as Zinneke Pis, who is forever raising her paw to a Brussels street pole. The dog was installed on the corner of Chartreux and Vieille Marché in 1998.
The puppy was created in life-size, but unlike his human counterparts, he does not literally pee. That is, he is not a fountain - he is just a bronze statue. However, the metal canine looks just as cute, with a slightly guilty look, as if he is apologizing for inappropriate behavior in a public place.
The bronze dog isn't as well known as its human counterparts, but if people could just look at its adorable face, there's no doubt that gardens around the world would be filled with statues of peeing dogs in no time.
The creator of the statue, Belgian sculptor Tom Franzen, lives in the neighborhood, and he modeled the creation after his own pet. The name of the sculpture, Zinneke, is a nickname for the inhabitants of Brussels and the Brussels mongrels in the Brussels dialect of Dutch, which comes from the name of the river Zenne.
According to the author, the mongrel symbolizes the unification of different cultures in Brussels.
