Rag and Bone - a touching ode to poverty and a reminder to everyone about the importance of mercy (5 photos)
Touching, completely abandoned, but at the same time extremely focused on his simple but important task - this homeless brass fox will definitely touch the invisible strings of the souls of passers-by from the Stockholm bridge.
At the foot of the Stockholm bridge, a small sad figure is hiding, barely visible under a pile of crumpled blankets, silently calling for your sympathy. This statue, called Hemlös räv (Rag and Bone), looks even sadder because of its pointed fox face.
Since 2008, a helpless little fox has been patiently waiting on the street, asking passersby to spare some thought for the homeless and perhaps some change. The piece was created by British sculptor Laura Ford and later acquired by the city of Stockholm. At first glance, the squat stray looks like an almost realistic pile of old blankets, but upon closer inspection, the sad little fox face is revealed. The character has nothing in the world except a pair of well-worn boots and a pile of torn blankets.
The statue was erected on the corner of Drottninggatan and Strömgatan, in the heart of the city, where it can be seen by tourists and locals alike. Its placement was the result of a public vote, which decided that the small symbol of poverty should be visible to those who most need the reminder.
The fox, beloved by Swedes and tourists, is often surrounded by small change that is left at its paws. Perhaps this statue is not the personification of happiness, but if it makes you take the time to think about an unpleasant topic, its existence will definitely not be in vain.
