A man found a tiny creature in the grass and took it home (19 photos)

Christian Scafidi's life changed dramatically when he found a newborn squirrel in the grass. The baby showed signs of life, and the man could not remain indifferent.





That's how this story began a few months ago. Today we know that the squirrel's name is Richard, and he is the most adorable pet in the world!

Without Christian's help, Richard would not have become the cheerful and playful animal that he is today. They have become true friends, and we hope that this will always be the case.

Meet Richard, the cute squirrel who was found in the grass after the hurricane



Christian Scafidi and his friend Emma were walking their dog when they spotted a tiny pink creature in the grass. At first they didn't even realize it was a baby squirrel





"My first thought was, 'Oh, he's still alive, we have to save him!' I told my girlfriend to go inside and get a paper towel so I could get him because I didn't know who he was and I was afraid to touch him," Christian said.



Despite his condition, Richard showed signs of life, which prompted Christian to take him



The couple did everything they could to save the little squirrel's life. "We took him to the vet several times to make sure he was okay"



It wasn't an easy road: "We had some challenges, like feeding him every two hours, even at night. We had to go to the vet. We had to feed him certain amounts based on his weight, so we had to weigh him almost every day. We had to give him antibiotics and keep him warm until his fur grew."

With the help of food, warmth and the necessary medications, Richard began to grow stronger and bigger







Two months later, Richard had turned into a handsome and mischievous animal



As for his daily routine, Christian said, “We already have three dogs, so we basically have another animal to feed. And also make sure they’re happy and healthy. We take him outside every day so he can run around and climb trees. We also have a tree house in the living room for him.”







The man added: "Richard is rapidly gaining popularity on social media. He has several videos that have already received millions of views, the best of which has 6.6 million views."



The three dogs seem to be getting along well with the new addition
