How a Frenchman tried to smuggle drugs into the Netherlands (4 photos)
Police officers in the Netherlands spotted a van with French license plates on the A29, 32 kilometers south of Rotterdam. The officers described the driver's behavior as strange, so they decided to stop the car and talk to him.
During the inspection, the 30-year-old man said that he was transporting several sealed coffins, each of which, according to him, contained dead bodies. However, the driver could not present the necessary documents for the transport, which is why the police became suspicious.
The coffins were taken to the funeral home and opened there. As it turned out, instead of corpses, there were several sports bags with about 250 kilograms of cocaine inside. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the prohibited substances is approximately 13 million euros.
Police say the man was heading from France to the Netherlands but did not know the destination of his trip. The seized drugs were disposed of.
