In the US, a Tennessee state senator ended up behind bars after getting into an accident while intoxicated.
A Ford Edge belonging to 77-year-old Senator Ken Yager got into an accident on Jekyll Island. The driver fled the scene, but the police managed to find him in the parking lot of a grocery store.
The police noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the politician. Yager failed a sobriety test: he peed in his pants while trying to do a one-legged stand. Part of the test was captured on video.
The politician admitted that he drank a couple of glasses of wine before getting behind the wheel. After that, he was sent to jail. He was soon released on bail, but faced several charges. In particular, it turned out that money collected for the election campaign was spent on car maintenance. Yager called the incident "an unfortunate incident."
