An Unexpected Encounter with a Flying Shark (4 photos + 1 video)
The man was filming a peaceful night fishing trip for his YouTube channel "Let's Go Fishing." But the tranquility was interrupted by a flying shark.
Moments before the incident, the couple were chatting while waiting for a bite. The 150-pound blue shark seemed to have other plans when it suddenly appeared out of the darkness and jumped onto the boat.
The monster collided with the fisherman, his partner recoiled in horror. The fish landed on the side and desperately thrashed its tail in an attempt to return to its element.
"It was a scary experience. I've been fishing all my life, but this has never happened before," the man admitted.
There were discussions behind the scenes about what to do with the shark. First, it was measured and weighed - 2.2 m and just over 150 kg, and then it was thrown overboard.
The video was filmed on November 18 off the coast of Korea. Since then, it has been viewed more than 1.9 million times, and the number of comments has reached a thousand.
"I'm glad you weren't hurt. You made a truly spectacular video," one of the subscribers wrote.
"This is by far the best Korean fishing video. Amazing!" another viewer commented.
A third wrote: "Wow! You got hit by a shark's tail!"
The blue shark is the most common shark species, with about 10 million caught each year.
According to the Shark Conservation Fund, the population of these fish is declining due to the increasing demand for shark fin soup.
