A smart Chinese man lived in hotels for almost a year for free. How did he do it? (6 photos)

One cunning Chinese guy found a way to save on almost the most important expense item in any trip - accommodation. Not only did he manage to stay in 63 hotels for free over the course of 10 months, but these hotels also paid him money as compensation!

No, it's not that cunning Chinese guy. The photo is just great!☺ Photo from https://www.meme-arsenal.com/

It all started when a 21-year-old guy named Jiang decided to spend all the money his parents gave him for university on travel - he really wanted to see the world.

But either there wasn't much money, or the failed student squandered it left and right, living in luxury, but the finances quickly ran out. And Jiang was just getting into the swing of things - after all, there was still so much interesting stuff ahead!

And then, summoning all his ingenuity, the Chinese man came up with a scheme that allowed him to approach hotel management with a demand for free accommodation.

The props Jiang used were simple: dead cockroaches and cicadas, strands of hair and used condoms.

You've probably guessed how Jiang pulled off his scam.

He would check into a room and scatter dead insects, hair, or used contraceptives around. He would then threaten the hotel with complaints to authorities or online exposure of the unsanitary conditions, agreeing to remain silent only in exchange for a free stay.

In an effort to preserve their reputation, hotels agreed to Jiang's terms. And he, feeling impunity, soon began to extort compensation for the allegedly grave damage to his psyche.

No, this is not Jiang either. Just another good photo!

In 10 months, Jiang swindled 63 hotels in five Chinese provinces, "earning" 38 thousand yuan in compensation. Until, finally, he ran into a principled administrator named Ke, who, apparently, was confident in the perfect cleanliness of his rooms.

Ke filed a police report against Jiang for extorting 400 yuan for alleged hygiene reasons. The police arrived and detained the extortionist, and 23 bags of dead insects and used condoms were found in his belongings.

And you know what struck me most about this story? No, not the "creative" extortion scheme that Jiang came up with, and certainly not the amount of money he "earned."

The most astonishing thing, in my opinion, is that the staff of 63 Chinese hotels quite allowed the presence of cockroaches, unkempt hair and used contraceptives in their rooms. I plan to be in Beijing next February - I hope I won't see anything like this in a hotel I've already booked!

Well, a Chinese man with the surname Jiang, in all likelihood, will be provided with free housing in the next few years.
