What about ecology? Porsche is in no hurry to abandon gasoline cars (3 photos)
The German automaker has revised its plans and is now in no hurry to completely switch to producing only electric cars. This was stated by the company's financial director Lutz Meschke.
This decision was the result of a decrease in demand for electric cars, as well as the company's desire to meet the diverse needs of the market. Currently, Porsche has two electric cars: the four-door Taycan coupe and the Macan crossover.
The carmaker planned to expand the line of electric models with a new Cayenne 718 and another unannounced SUV. But in light of the changing market, Porsche is now considering releasing these models with hybrid or traditional gasoline engines.
Electric vehicles were previously planned to account for 80% of Porsche's sales by 2030. But in 2024, the company faced a decline in electric car sales in the U.S. and difficulties in the Chinese market, where it has to compete with more affordable local brands.
