A woman in China earned $42,000 in three months on "quick" marriages and divorces (3 photos)
Journalists note that a large number of men apply to dating agencies. Each time, a client is selected from 40-50 candidates.
It is noted that she registered her marriage with her husband in December last year, but soon reported domestic violence and filed for divorce. She did not return the "bride ransom" of 170,000 yuan to her husband, took part of the common property, including the car that her husband bought for her. After the divorce, the woman continued to go on dates, hiding her divorced status.
Journalists note that so-called "quick weddings" are gaining momentum in China. These are marriages in which brides get married, but run away and force them to break up after a short period of living together.
The police have already turned their attention to a group of matchmaking agencies in southwest China due to women extorting significant amounts of money from single men. Some of them posed as potential brides. In this way, they manage to earn large sums of money in a few months.
Some actively sought out single men from small and remote towns across the country, while others were looking for women. In many cases, a few days after the male clients met the women from the agency, they agreed to marry, signed a contract with him and paid a "bride price".
Such marriages are called "speed weddings" because the brides often ran away, disappeared or pressured the men into divorce. To do this, the women used various methods, including frequent conflicts.
Since March last year, a police station in one of the districts has received 180 reports of dating fraud. The court has already decided about 50 such cases.
One of the former customer service representatives of one of the agencies noted that they have enough male clients.
"We are not worried about male clients at all. There are many of them all over the country. We can choose a male client for a blind date from 40-50 candidates every day," he added.
