Former Motorsports Star Walked Barefoot More Than 6,500 km from Spain to Pakistan (2 photos + 1 video)

Former professional motorcycle racer Axel Pons has given up his career and started walking after a move to an Asian island changed his worldview. The racing star wanted to slow down and see the world in all its detail.





Motorcycle racing star and former model Axel Pons, 33, has walked more than 6,000 km from Spain to Pakistan barefoot. He has given up sports and modeling and has been traveling the world on foot for three years now.

Axel Pons is the son of former two-time world champion in road racing, Sito Pons. Until 2017, he competed in professional competitions at the Grand Prix level, performing in Moto2 (in the 125cc and 250cc classes). At the same time, he received a business education at the university.



Since 2018, he began a career as a professional model, but soon left this job. This happened after Axel moved to a remote island in Asia, which changed his worldview, journalists write. The former professional motorcycle racer became interested in walking barefoot and has been walking the world without shoes for three years now.

He walked more than 6,500 km from Spain to Pakistan in 15 months. He wanted to continue on to India, but was unable to cross the border due to visa problems. However, Pons plans to return to the Pakistani capital Islamabad, sort out his documents, and then walk to China and try to cross the border there.

Axel perceives walking barefoot as a spiritual practice that allows him to feel one with higher powers.

"I usually walk barefoot, it's beautiful. What's the point of living at such a fast pace? I slowed down, slowed down, slowed down, until I was slowly walking through the world, appreciating the details of life. We only had the desire to complete the unity with Allah or God, and this is our way of prayer and practice: walking," Pons explained.
