The world's tallest and shortest women had tea to celebrate the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day. Turkish IT developer Rumeysa Gelgi and Indian actress Jyoti Amge discovered they have a lot in common during their conversation.
Gelgi joked that the height difference made it difficult for them to look each other in the eye. Nevertheless, the meeting was "wonderful and amazing."
Amci, 30, is the shortest woman at 62.8 cm, while Gelgi holds the Guinness World Record for tallest person at 215.16 cm.
Gelgi has a rare condition called Weaver syndrome, which causes accelerated growth and skeletal deformities - hers is only the 27th case in history, and the first in Turkey.
She uses a wheelchair and can only stand with the help of a walker for short periods.
Amgee, who played Ma Petite in the American Horror Story, has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia.
Gelgi said: "It was incredible meeting Jyoti for the first time. We have common interests: we both love makeup, grooming and nails."
Amgee added: "I'm used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, but today I was so happy to look up and see the tallest woman in the world. I'm glad I met Rumaysa, she's so kind and I felt so comfortable talking to her."
The pair received an honorary mention in the 70th edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Guinness Book of World Records 2025 will feature them alongside other celebrities including Diana Armstrong, the woman with the longest fingernails, Sultan Kösen, the tallest man in the world, and disabled strongman Dave Walsh.
Editor-in-chief Craig Glenday said: "Guinness World Records strives to celebrate the diversity of the world. We were delighted to invite these two amazing and iconic women to share their views on life with each other and with us."
