Tried to take a selfie: a tiger shark swallowed an iPhone and showed itself from the inside (2 photos + 1 video)
The incident occurred during the shark's feeding, and the phone was sealed in a waterproof case. The video clearly shows what the shark's body and jaw look like from the inside.
One of the team members filmed the feeding and recorded how the smartphone got into the shark's mouth from a different angle.
When the phone got caught in the shark's jaw, it continued to film, allowing you to see the inside of the gills, as well as the pulsating walls of its throat.
The iPhone itself belonged to excursion captain Dave Finch, who was amazed that his iPhone camera continued to work, collecting incredible footage from inside the Jitterbug's mouth. He was accompanied by Texas underwater photographer Ken Keefer, who later shared details of the incident.
"This sneaky girl grabbed Finch's camera and tried to take a selfie. I watched as the shark chewed on the phone. I thought the phone was gone, and then I saw Jitterbug spit it out. She grabbed it. Then she chewed it, dropped it, grabbed it again and dropped it," Keefer said.
The phone was sealed in a waterproof case. So when Jitterbug spat it out, you could see the rows of serrations, which are flatter on tiger sharks than on other species and have distinct primary and secondary serrations that help differentiate sharks by species.
