A Ford Ranchero pickup with a 10-liter twin-turbo engine will be put up for auction (19 photos)
In January 2025, an unusual restomod based on the second-generation Ford Ranchero will be put up for auction. The Kindig-It Design studio completely rebuilt the light-duty pickup truck — this concerns the body, interior, chassis and powertrain. The latter is a twin-turbocharged 9.83-liter V8. The auction house will not disclose price expectations. 
In addition to a complete restoration and repainting of the body, the pickup truck, for example, changed the cabin, moving and slightly tilting the rear pillars. In addition, the Ford Ranchero acquired new bumpers and a custom radiator grille. The chassis uses a fully independent suspension, partially based on the components of the second-generation Ford Mustang. Pneumatic elements have been added, due to which it is possible to reduce the ground clearance to a minimum. The car is shod with 18-inch wheels on the front axle and 20-inch wheels on the rear, complemented by Baer brakes.
The interior trimmed in brown leather has new seats, a different steering wheel, vintage instruments and a custom transmission selector. Comfort should be added by a hidden climate control system from Vintage Air. In addition, the creators of the restomod tried to hide the built-in safety cage from prying eyes.
Its appearance is most likely due to the capabilities of the power unit. The second-generation Ford Ranchero was equipped with engines with a volume of up to 4.3 liters, but now under the hood of the pickup truck there is an engine more than twice as large. The limited underhood space forced the developers to move the Turbonetics turbochargers into the body. According to some estimates, the engine generates about 1200 horsepower, which is realized through a 2-speed Powerglide transmission.
The restomod was built back in 2018, spending two and a half years, and since then it has become the hero of a number of thematic articles and TV shows. The mileage of the pickup truck is not specified at the moment.
