This news story is a strong contender for the "joke of the day" award.
In Oregon, 71-year-old William Hesh decided to go for a bike ride, but he got into a fight with an ambulance and was hit by a police car, and the driver was at fault.
According to police reports obtained by OregonLive, the driver who hit Hesh and a passenger in the ambulance estimated that the ambulance was traveling between 2 and 10 mph at the time of the crash. Hesh estimated to police that he was traveling between 5 and 10 miles per hour.
The ambulance crew cheerfully provided him with first aid and quickly transported him to the nearest hospital. Grandpa was examined, his abrasions were treated, his broken nose was fixed, and he was sent on his way in peace.
A few days later, he received a bill for $1,862 for the ambulance services, yes, the same one that hit him. Grandpa was shocked by such rabid capitalism, went to court and demanded compensation in the amount of about $1 million.
The lawsuit claims that Hesh was injured and has incurred about $47,000 in medical expenses so far, with an additional $50,000 expected after a hospital visit. Grandpa decided not to skimp and is demanding compensation in the amount of $997,000 for pain and suffering, as well as payment of medical bills.
