The abundance of various technical devices and technologies has made the life of a modern person many times easier compared to previous generations.

But, damn, what interesting things our ancestors came up with, trying to improve their lives. And although these inventions - successful and not so, remained only in museums, in photos or in memories, when looking at them it becomes a little sad that we did not live in those distant and dashing times.

1. Hair protection

Need to take a shower urgently? This weird thing will keep your hair and makeup (not sure).

2. Mom, Dad, Me

A dubious design, since falling is fraught with problems.

3. Bourdalou

A cute little vessel with the beautiful French name bourdalou is actually a lady's potty - a bedpan made of earthenware or porcelain for small needs. Something between a duck and a gravy boat, French women used as portable "vases". It is believed that the item owes its name to Louis Bourdalou, who, during the time of Louis XIV, read incredibly long sermons, because of which ladies, in order to be able to listen to them to the end, had to carry such things with them to church.

4. Stroller with increased protection

Children's strollers for gas attacks were released in England in 1938, when it became clear that war could not be avoided. Inside, the developers provided a small crib, which was closed from above with a powerful lid. Air entered through a filter, and the exhaust accumulated in a special flask.

5. Not a Trap

Although the device looks like a trap for small game, in reality, certain organs were supposed to act as game. This antique medical device is a device for combating masturbation in men. In the Victorian era, masturbation was believed to cause a lot of problems, including premature death. And with this magic ring, at the slightest sign of arousal, the sharp teeth came into play.

6. Beauty requires sacrifice

A mask for fresh and elastic skin with ice cubes. This mask was once called a hangover cure.

7. Rocking bath

Another greeting from the Victorian era. The creators of this bath promised an exact imitation of sea bathing and good health due to improved blood circulation. In fact, fans of hydropathy could face such problems as motion sickness, getting stuck and simply getting water in the mouth.

8. Amphibious Bicycle

The "Cyclomer" device of 1932, which appeared in France, could move both on land and on water. But, alas, it did not gain popularity due to its low speed of movement and almost complete lack of maneuverability.

9. Folding piano

The instrument was developed in 1935 so that bedridden patients could play music and distract themselves from their illness.

10. Rubber swimsuit

The 1929 swimsuits made from bicycle tire scraps were meant to make bathing easier.
