Experimental monkeys escaped from a research center in the USA
Several dozen experimental monkeys have escaped from the Alpha Genesis research center in South Carolina in the United States. It is not yet known what kind of tests the primates were involved in.
The monkey escape occurred at the Alpha Genesis research center in South Carolina. Police are searching for 40 primates. According to local authorities, the animals left the facility at night, and the search is currently ongoing.
The Alpha Genesis company is engaged in clinical trials using monkeys, including for the treatment of brain diseases. In connection with the escape, the company's employees set traps, and thermal imagers are used for the search, NBC News writes.
Authorities are urging residents to close windows and doors to prevent monkeys from getting into their homes. Found animals are asked not to touch or approach them, but to immediately call the police.
It is noted that this is not the first case of monkeys escaping from this center. Previously, in 2016, 19 monkeys escaped, and in 2022, three monkeys also escaped after an accident in Pennsylvania.
