Diyarbakir is a city and region in southeastern Turkey, on the Tigris River. Currently, most Kurds live in the territories of 4 countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria and Türkiye.

The arch is one of the largest single-span unreinforced brick arches in the world. It is 37 meters high and 26 meters wide.

Banana harvest at Kibbutz Ginosar. Israel, 1956.

We are all used to thinking that bananas grow on palm trees and are the same “full-fledged” fruits as apples, oranges, etc. But in fact, this is not so. According to botanical classification, a banana is a berry, and a banana palm is a perennial herb.

Traditional outfit of a Kiribati warrior, 1925.

Protective equipment consists of what can be caught in the ocean or found on the island: a helmet made of porcupine fish, a sword made of shark teeth, coconut fibers and fish scales.

During the week, the train would stop in one place, teachers would teach, children would learn, then the train would move on, stop in a new place, then return after 5 weeks, teachers would check homework, and so on in a circle.

The "Schools on Wheels," as they were called (there were seven of them), operated from 1926 to 1967.

From World War I to 1965, the number of Turkish immigrants coming to the United States was quite low as a result of restrictive immigration laws. Approximately 100 Turkish immigrants per year entered the United States between 1930 and 1950. However, the number of Turkish immigrants to the United States increased to 2,000-3,000 per year after 1965 due to the liberalization of U.S. immigration laws.
