He even managed to marry one of them. And while sitting in prison and waiting to die.

Richard Ramirez was born on February 29, 1960 and became the fifth child in a family of Mexican immigrants. They settled in Texas, and his father served in the police for some time, then he was fired. The family had not lived well before, but now they became frankly destitute.

Soon, Ramirez Sr. began beating children, especially the youngest boy. By the age of 10, he had already suffered a couple of head injuries and epileptic seizures. Richard's older brother returned from Vietnam, gave the boy marijuana to try, and told him how he had abused captured Viet Cong. The apogee came when the older brother killed his wife in front of Richard. After that, the guy completely lost his mind: he switched to hard drugs and fled to sunny California.

At the same time, he began using even more actively - and for this he needed money. So Richard smoothly moved to crime - but at first it was limited to petty thefts. And in 1983, the young man ended up in Los Angeles and went wild there: in addition to drugs, he developed a passion for Satanism.

Until his death, Ramirez never explained why he decided to commit his first murder. And there was no reason - he was a drug addict and a real psychopath. He didn't choose his victims either: he killed, raped and robbed anyone he could catch, from minors to old women. He always left pentagrams at the crime scene, it was his signature.

Like any maniac, he was eventually caught.

One of the victims managed to escape and ran to the police. Ramirez was detained on the spot and shoved into a cell. At the court hearings, the guy laughed, made fun of and confessed his love for Satanism.

For 13 murders, 11 rapes and 14 burglaries, Ramirez was sentenced to 19 life sentences and the death penalty. He waited for her on death row from 1989 to 2013. He never got it - he died of lymphoma at the age of 53.

The media squeezed all the juices out of his story and promoted Richard all over the country. The maniac had a whole army of fans, he received whole bags of letters with declarations of love from hybristophiles - these are schizos who admire famous killers and criminals. One of the ladies even married Ramirez.

Later, several films were made about the maniac, his image was shown in the popular series "American Horror Story" and several songs were dedicated to him.
