Journalists say that this type of squid can reach 17 meters in length and weigh 300 kilograms. Most representatives of this species live in the Cantabrian Sea.

The animal was discovered on Friday, October 11, and caused excitement among local scientists. Architeuthis Dux, better known as the "giant squid", is very difficult to observe in its natural habitat, since it lives in the depths of the oceans. It can reach 17 meters in length and weigh 300 kilograms - it is one of the largest squid species on the planet. A total of 21 specimens have been registered, most of them are in the Cantabrian Sea.

The squid is compared to the famous kraken - a creature from Scandinavian mythology that could sink ships with the help of huge tentacles. However, in fact, the giant squid is relatively harmless to humans, but it cannot be eaten due to the high ammonia content in its muscle mass.

The Cantabrian Sea is one of the few places on Earth where these animals live. This is why it is of interest to scientists studying this species of squid. How and why the squid ended up stranded in Llanes has not yet been established. Biologists suggest that the cause may be changes in ocean currents or changes in underwater ecosystem conditions.
