Rajiv Kumar Dubey and his wife Rashmi pulled off one of the most incredible scams in human history. Dozens of people fell victim to their fraud.
Rajeev Kumar Dubey and his wife Rashmi from India are wanted by the police for deceiving dozens of unsuspecting people by promising to restore their youth with the help of an "Israeli time machine".
The couple pulled off one of the most incredible scams in human history. The couple ran a therapy centre in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where they allegedly convinced people that they were ageing rapidly due to excessive air pollution and claimed that they could reverse the process with an "Israeli-made time machine" and oxygen therapy. The couple is suspected of having duped many elderly people who were looking for a way to regain their youth. The scam left them $4.1 million richer.
Police officer Anjali Vishwakarma said the couple turned the scam into a Ponzi scheme, promising clients free oxygen therapy sessions for every new client they brought to their clinic.
Renu Singh, one of the gullible victims, has filed a police complaint, claiming that she was duped of $21,000. She said hundreds of people lost a total of $4.1 million. So far, police have evidence that the Dubeys have cheated more than two dozen people, but the investigation is ongoing.
It is not known how Rajiv and Rashmi convinced their clients that they could reverse the effects of aging, but victims who have already come forward say they were promised visible results within months thanks to a miraculous time machine brought from abroad. The couple said they could reverse aging by 20 years and even restore damaged internal organs.
The Indian police have registered a case of fraud against the Dubeys and are searching for the couple.
