A woman sent a resume and received a response only 48 years later (3 photos)

Tizi Hodson has spent decades wondering why her application was ignored, but now the mystery has been solved.





Tizie Hodson, 70, from Gedney Hill, England, has revealed why her 1976 application to become a motorcycle stunt rider went unanswered.

A pensioner recently received a reply to her job application letter 48 years after it was stuffed into a post office box. She didn't expect to get a reply.

Ms Hodson, who applied for the job in January 1976, was stunned when she opened her mail to find a handwritten note that read: "Late delivery Staines Post Office. Found behind box [sic]. Only 50 years late."



For decades, the woman wondered why her application had been ignored, and now the mystery has been solved.

"I always wondered why I never got a job. Now I know why," she said.

Despite the setback, the lost letter did not stop Ms. Hodson from continuing her career. She traveled the world, taking on a variety of adventurous roles, from snake trainer to flight instructor.



Reflecting on her life, she expressed surprise that the letter had found its way to her after so many years.

"How they found me, when I'd moved house 50-odd times and even changed countries four or five times, is a mystery. I remember very clearly sitting in my flat in London typing a letter. Every day I'd look for my job and there was nothing there and I was so disappointed because I really, really wanted to be a motorcycle stunt driver," she says.

Ms Hodson was careful not to reveal her gender in her letter, fearing it might hurt her chances of getting the job.
