An Italian holidaymaker, who has not been named, has vowed never to return to the French Riviera after being harassed by a waiter at a high-end restaurant for whom he left a €500 tip.

A waiter went with a customer to the parking lot of a luxury resort, persuading him to pay the "minimum" tip of 1,000 euros.

"He thought he would be generous by leaving 500 euros, but instead he got criticism. The waiter said he could try even harder to get the equivalent of 20% of the total bill," a friend of the magnate told journalists from the French magazine Nice Matin.



By the way, tourists with different income levels can vacation on the French Riviera, but some restaurants "go too far", making even wealthy visitors nervous. In particular, another tourist recently witnessed how one customer was asked to pay no less than 1,500 euros just to have a bite to eat.

It is reported that employees of elite French restaurants have learned to evaluate customers by their wealth and have even created a "black list" of travelers who are stingy with tips.
