The most tattooed woman in the world has covered 99.98% of her body with ink (5 photos)
A US Army veteran has become the most tattooed woman on the planet, but that's not enough for her. Over the past decade, Esperance Fuerzina has covered 99.98% of her body in tattoos. And now the 36-year-old's efforts have been recognized - she's entered the Guinness Book of Records.
Esperance got her first tattoo at 21, and later covered it up with a large phoenix.
"I am very happy to be the owner of the most body modifications and the most tattooed woman. It may seem a little crazy, but I am grateful and looking forward to the future. And, of course, I am not going to stop there," the informal woman admits.
She broke the previous Guinness record, which belonged to Maria Jose Cristerna, who has 50 modifications. Esperance has almost twice as many - 89.
It all started with a bifurcated tongue, then she got five facial implants and pierced her ears, nipples, labia and gums. Fuerzina even cut off part of her ears. Now she is unrecognizable in old photos.
The woman explained her love for transformations: "I have quite a nomadic life and there is not much space in my (army) backpack, and this I can take with me wherever I go."
She said that body art turns dark times into bright times, reminds her of what she has been through, and at the same time helps her grow.
It's no wonder that Esperance attracts attention, including negative attention.
"We have yet to learn to accept people as they are, allow them to look the way they want, and not judge them for the choices they make," the American said.
