Eight-year-old girl helps father fight off robber (6 photos + 1 video)

On August 10, the manager of a Big Discount Liquors store in Maplewood, Minnesota, arrived at work with his 8-year-old daughter. He was getting ready to close the store when an armed robber walked in.





The assailant, dressed as an Amazon delivery guy, grabbed a bottle and threatened the manager.

"He put the gun on the table and told me to give him all the money in the register," Leo recalled. "I tried to reason with him and said, 'I have a daughter here. Can you put the gun down and get it away from her? I'll give you everything, take it."



But the robber, 37-year-old Conchobhar Morrell, instead grabbed a gun and went behind the counter.

Leo immediately hit the robber and knocked him down, and a fight ensued.



The girl grabbed a baseball bat and hit the attacker several times, and her father managed to wrestle the gun away. Morrell escaped, but was soon arrested.



"I'm so proud of my daughter, she's so strong. I didn't expect her to do this. "I thought she would cry and scream like all little girls," the proud father admitted. He didn't know his daughter was trying to help him until he saw the CCTV footage.



A representative for Amazon said Morrell worked as a courier but has since been suspended.

The offender is charged with attempted aggravated robbery, a charge he was previously convicted of in 2004.
