A Brazilian mixed up the check-in desks, missed his flight - and survived (3 photos + 3 videos)
The plane he was supposed to fly on crashed. All people on board died.
This story can only be called a miracle and providence.
On August 9, an ATR-72 plane crashed in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. There were 57 passengers and four crew members on board. They all died. However, the number of tickets purchased by passengers was different - one of those who was supposed to fly on this flight was delayed at work and arrived at the airport late. While he was looking for the check-in counter, the time ran out and he was not allowed on the flight.
"I was late because I work at a local hospital and arrived at the airport too late. There was no one at the gate. The airport employee did not let me in. We argued for a long time. Only now I understand that he saved my life," says Adriano Assis.
The plane crashed 90 minutes after takeoff. Video footage taken by bystanders shows the aircraft falling at high speed.
According to CNN, the plane crashed into several houses, but later this version was refuted, stating that the plane crashed near houses, and there were no casualties on the ground in the plane crash.
But the passengers' chances of survival in such a crash were zero.

According to aviation engineers and air crash investigators, the ATR-72 turboprop aircraft could have crashed due to icing or engine failure. The corresponding versions were published in the Reuters article. Aviation expert Celso Faria de Souza believes that ice was the cause of the disaster. Previously, ATR-72 airliners had already experienced problems with icing - for example, as a result of a crash on the same aircraft in 1994 in the US state of Indiana, 68 people died. The cause of that disaster was also an accumulation of ice.
After the recent plane crash, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva declared three days of mourning in the country.
