Rains have been falling with varying success for the second month in a row. Incessant downpours have turned China into an Underwater Empire.
While the south of the country is literally melting from the crazy heat, the rest of the country is gradually sinking under water.
In Shaanxi and other places, heavy rains continued. A large number of cars were washed away by water. A video of piles of cars instantly went viral around the world.
On the evening of the 8th, heavy rain hit Yan'an in Shaanxi Province, seriously damaging Zhidan and Wuqi counties. Late in the evening, Zhidan County saw a historical maximum of 179.1 millimeters of rain in half an hour.
Early in the morning of the 9th, heavy rains hit Shijiazhuang, Baoding, Dingzhou and other places in Hebei Province. Many roads in Shijiazhuang City were flooded.
Recently, natural disasters have been particularly severe in the three northeastern provinces of Sichuan and Hunan. Flooding has occurred due to the continuous release of water from reservoirs. At least 150 people have died, and more than 300 are missing.
Li Wei from Dingbian County, Yulin, Shaanxi Province: "The water level at the intersection of the east gate of Dingbian County New Area is 80 centimeters to 1 meter. On the lower roads, the water flows into houses and shops because our drainage system is not very good and the drainage is a little slow."
The Ministry of Emergency Management has calculated the damage in July at 76.9 billion yuan (10.1 billion in dollars).
Forecasters say that this weekend will not be a time to catch your breath either - heavy rains will hit Beijing, Inner Mongolia, northeastern regions and the Sichuan Basin. The Chinese Ministry of Emergency Situations is calling on the affected regions to evacuate residents and temporarily suspend work.
