Diver recovered $100,000 worth of treasure from the ocean floor (4 photos)
Grant Gitschlag and his crew dived to the wreck of the Spanish fleet. In 1715, eleven ships left the port of Cuba and headed with treasures to the Old World. The ships were sunk by a hurricane off the east coast of Florida, killing 1,500 sailors. 
Gitschlag was accompanied by his business partner Mike Penninger, as well as Nick Amelio and Corinna Lea. They managed to discover more than 200 silver coins.
Depending on the condition of the specimens, the value of the treasure can range from $12,000 to $130,000. 
Grant said: “I became interested in searching at an early age. What boy doesn’t dream of finding treasure?”
"In 2014, I signed a contract with the captain of the ship and became a treasure hunter. We always expect to find something - nine times out of ten we do."
The diver explained that when exploring sunken ships, fragments of broken ceramics and metal elements are usually found, and if a coin is found, then this is a reason for joy. 
“Silver coins may develop a thick crust of corrosion after hundreds of years in water, but piastres are unmistakable.”
The treasure was found among the wreckage of one of the two flagships. According to Gitschlag, the coins could have been minted in Mexico City.
The diver and his team work for 1715 Fleet Queens Jewels LLC, which has exclusive rights to find treasures from the 1715 Fleet. The treasure has not yet been appraised, but only a small part of it will go on sale, and a large part will go to museums.
