A luxurious 24-meter sports yacht worth $1 million sank off the coast of Florida (USA). There were two people on board the vessel.
A press release from the local Coast Guard stated that the accident 3 miles off St. Augustine Beach was reported at 11:35 a.m. According to the preliminary version, the yacht hit some object in the water and began to slowly sink.
Rescue services sent boats to help the victims, and also coordinated further actions with the St. Johns County Fire and Rescue Service. They later reported rescuing two people.
The sunken yacht is reported to be similar to a Sunseeker Predator 80 built in the UK sometime in the early 2000s. The vessel is ranked in the 5% fastest in the world and can accommodate up to six guests in four cabins with two crew members on board.
By the way, this model, but a little larger, was shown in the 2006 James Bond film “Casino Royale”.
Following the incident, the coast guard warned other sailors of the danger. The causes of the accident are being established.
