Unsuccessful films of recent years, which still managed to please with acting (11 photos)
Before watching, we advise everyone to drink valerian, as the selection may include a film that someone really likes. But no matter how hard you try, the films received poor ratings from critics and viewers. But they cannot be called unambiguous “failures”. And all thanks to the actors who brought out the films as best they could.
Fast and Furious 10 (2023)
Everything is bad except Jason Momoa.
Apart from ardent fans of the series, hardly anyone thought that the tenth part of “Fast and the Furious” would suddenly become entertaining to watch, after all, everything was clear with it for three films, but then HE came.
Jason Momoa.
Having fun, wildly overacting, as if playing the role of the local fast and furious Joker. In general, Momoa, of course, did not perform anything outstanding, but how much brighter his performance looked compared to everyone else.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Everything is bad except Christian Bale.
Bale came into this film clearly from a different weight category - both from the plot and from the point of view of acting. Apart from him, no one else tried to do their job well.
Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore Mysteries (2022)
Everything is bad except Mads Mikkelsen.
On the third attempt, the authors of the Fantastic Beasts trilogy were still able to choose the ideal actor for the role of Grindelwald, but it was too late - the plot of the story went to God knows where. The Harry Potter universe has never seen such low ratings before.
Ministry of Ungentlemanly Affairs (2024)
Everything is bad, except for Til Schweiger.
They forgot to give the main characters of Guy Ritchie's new film any opponents, except for old Thiel, who, as best he could, breathed the ominousness of the antagonist into the film. It’s a pity, purely from the script, that the actor’s performance was not rewarded with a worthy or at least interesting fate for his character.
Napoleon (2023)
Everything is bad except Joaquin Phoenix.
The film as a whole turned out to be rather lackluster compared to the best examples of biopics about legendary figures of the past, but the leading actor showed his worth. But even Joaquin couldn’t pull off such a project alone.
Killer (2023)
Everything is bad except Michael Fassbender.
The most convincing performance by the Irish actor in the most passable film in David Fincher's career.
Operation Fortune: The Art of Victory (2022)
Everything is bad except Hugh Grant.
The new role of the aged Grant, namely a cynical, insidious, unpleasant, but charismatic semi-villain suits him very well. Hugh, please continue!
No Time to Die (2020)
Everything is bad, except for Ana de Armas.
Overall, there was only one standout scene in the film, which was entirely due to the presence of Ana de Armas. Her heroine appeared briefly, quickly disappeared, but definitely left memories of herself. But the film itself is not that great.
Sonic 2 in cinema (2022)
Everything is bad except Jim Carrey.
It's the same story with the first part of 2020. In both cases, all the energy and fun was generated by one person. As with Momoa, Jim overacted wildly (amazing, right?), but it was definitely more entertaining than anything else in the film.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Everything is bad except Florence Pugh.
Yes, the style of the film prevails over its content, yes, the main plot twist was predicted by all people in the world. But the title actress was able to keep attention on herself, decorating with her performance a film that could not offer the viewer anything new.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Sunrise (2019)
Everything is bad except Adam Driver.
The most disastrous Star Wars trilogy ended at a low point, but it gave us one of the most exciting actors of his generation. Fans of the saga have gone from “who else is this” to “thank God, at least he’s here.”
