In the USA, part of a football field went underground
In the American city of Alton, a giant hole appeared on the football field. The cause was ground collapse.
A huge hole appeared on the football field at Gordon Moore Park. The cause of the incident was soil subsidence in the mine, which is located directly under the sports facility. It is clarified that the mine was active, but no one was injured from the collapse.
According to Alton Parks and Recreation Director Michael Haynes, the hole in the ground was 30 meters wide and 9-15 meters deep. The sinkhole also swallowed one of the lights on the football field. Haynes said the moment of the collapse was like something out of a movie when the ground falls away from under your feet.
Football fields in Gordon Moore Park appeared in 2019 - the cost of the project exceeded one million dollars. Haynes hopes that the authorities will have time to restore the sports facility before the start of the season. The park is now closed to the public.
