The most remote bar in the world: a six-day boat trip for cheap beer (5 photos)
The Albatross bar offers inexpensive beer and pleasant company. However, the establishment is located in the Atlantic Ocean.
The most "isolated" bar in the world, called the Albatross, is located more than 6 thousand miles, that is, approximately 9,656 km from the UK, although technically it is part of the United Kingdom. It can be reached in six days by boat from the nearest country.
Geographically, the Albatross Bar, also known as the "world's most remote bar", is located 1,732 miles from Cape Town in South Africa and just 1,514 miles from St Helena, another British overseas territory. It is located in the Seven Seas town of Edinburgh on the island of Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic Ocean, with a population of 238 people.
The island is surrounded by stormy seas and nestled beneath towering volcanoes. And intrepid travelers who venture there unanimously agree that the cheap, cold beer is worth it.
One Canadian who made the trip in March 2018 raved on TripAdvisor soon after: “As the most remote inhabited island in the world, this must be the most remote bar where the beer was cold and the wine was warm...”
A traveler from Texas, America, was surprised by the prices, noting that this was the only pub on Tristan with very reasonably priced drinks and a friendly crowd.
One woman also noted that in addition to the cheap booze, there was also a great bartender who told some interesting jokes to the patrons.
In addition to alcohol for every taste, the bar also has a billiard table.
However, travelers planning to visit the “most remote bar” should be aware that before visiting, they must first obtain permission from the local municipality - without it, the bar will be denied service.
