The video was reportedly filmed by a passer-by in the city of Taiyuan in the central Chinese province of Shanxi. According to him, the relatives communicated in a raised voice, so he clearly heard what exactly the conversation was about.
The girl reproached her dad: “Other parents can buy their children an iPhone. Why don’t you have money?” After that, the man knelt down and shook his head, as if blaming himself for his inability to fulfill the child’s dream.
"Get up! Get up quickly!" - the daughter screamed, obviously out of shame at her father’s behavior.
According to the author of the video, he stood nearby, watching the dialogue for about five minutes and even “felt an urge to approach her and slap her.”
The video went viral on Chinese social media, being viewed 91 million times on Weibo and six million times on Douyin, causing the incident to become the talk of the country.
Most people began to condemn the girl and criticized the father for mistakes in raising his daughter.

"I feel sorry for both of them";
"This father is pathetic. His actions will encourage the girl to become even more disobedient."
