A 62-year-old man from Moldova, who was buried alive, was rescued only after 4 days. His desperate cries for help, coming from underground, were accidentally heard by the police.

Law enforcement officers arrived in the village of Ustia, in northwestern Moldova, to investigate the death of a 74-year-old woman, whom relatives found without signs of life. While searching the home of the 18-year-old suspect in her murder, police heard cries for help coming from nearby.

In footage released on Wednesday, May 15, you can see an elderly man being pulled out of a makeshift grave. He was wounded, but conscious.

The victim told police that on Saturday he and the guy suspected of murder were drinking alcohol, and then a quarrel broke out between them. The teenager allegedly attacked him with a knife, after which he locked him in a makeshift basement and buried him alive, covering the entrance with earth.



Police believe that the teenager killed the pensioner, who was his relative, the next day. The intoxicated suspect was arrested at his own home. During interrogation, he gave “confused” and “inconsistent” testimony.

The prosecutor's office continues to investigate the attempted murder of one man and the murder of another. If the young man is found guilty, he faces life imprisonment.

The man rescued from the ground was hospitalized at a nearby hospital.
