Jordan Bayliss was walking with Chanel Livesey in Gloucestershire when he noticed a cow straying from the herd. A 28-year-old British man wanted to pet a cow, but was forced to flee.
Chanel persuaded her lover to pet the cow: “Pet her, Jordan.”
But before the tourist from Birmingham had time to approach, the artiodactyl rushed after him.
Chanel was filming what was happening and couldn’t stop laughing. The man ran across the field and disappeared behind the fence. The cow approached the couple, looked at them and walked away.
The girl explained: “I warned Jordan that this was a rogue cow, on her own, away from the herd, and I didn’t know how she would react. But he still decided it was a good idea. And then the cow ran at him, and he screamed! He left me alone in the field, and I had to run as quickly as possible to get to the gate before the animal noticed me. Even when we were outside the gate, the cow walked straight towards us until the car scared it away.”
Cow attacks are a relatively rare occurrence but have occurred in the British countryside. Thus, between 2018 and 2022, these animals killed a total of 32 people.
Last November in Wheatland, Carmarthenshire, a cow escaped from a livestock market and attacked a 75-year-old passerby. The pensioner suffered multiple fractures and died in hospital.
While most people are afraid of bulls, few are afraid of cows, and they can also be aggressive, especially those that protect their young.
