Why do kangaroos hate dogs so much that they are willing to kill them? (3 photos + 4 videos)

Yeah! This is not how I imagined a kangaroo as a child. It always seemed to me that this animal jumping like a grasshopper with a funny bag on her stomach in which her kids are sitting is very kind and sweet.

But what about the fact? It turns out that two-meter male kangaroos can be very aggressive. Relying on its tail, the marsupial can inflict a powerful blow on the enemy with both hind legs, which are amazingly strong.

Still would! After all, a kangaroo can jump up to twelve meters in length and up to three meters in height. Can you imagine the strength in his legs?

But kangaroos have a special hatred for dogs.

Mick Moloney, a former police officer from the Australian state of Victoria, had to rescue his dog from the clutches of a two-meter muscular kangaroo that was trying to drown his dog. Mick also managed to film it all on his phone, while at the same time fighting off the big guy.

Muscular kangaroo. Still from a video directed by Mick Moloney.

When Mick failed to scare away the animal by shouting from the shore, he entered the water and headed towards the kangaroo. In the video, the man can be heard saying, “Let go of my dog,” and swinging his free hand.

Only at this moment does the kangaroo open its paws to strike back. And Mick drops his phone in the water. However, he manages to get the gadget from the bottom and continue filming the animal, which is still ready to attack. Here, see for yourself how it happened:

A happy ending! No one was injured, apart from deep scratches on his arm. True, at the end of the video Mick’s laugh is very nervous. Don't you think?

But why did the kangaroo suddenly decide to drown the dog? What kind of fierce bloodthirstiness awoke in the herbivorous marsupial? And this is not an isolated case at all. Australians say this is a fairly common occurrence. It’s just that not all attempts by kangaroos to deal with dogs are caught on video. Yes, for example, here’s another episode:

And the whole point is that modern dogs are very similar to the terrible Australian predator - the wild dog dingo, which for thousands of years did not allow kangaroos to live in peace.

It was to protect against dingoes that marsupial jumpers developed this method of salvation - to jump into the nearest body of water and try to drown the enemy.

And if suddenly there is no water nearby, the kangaroo may even try to strangle the dog:

So it's not the kangaroo's bloodthirstiness at all. This is an instinct that has been developed over the course of many, many generations.

If you are not yet tired of the abundance of videos, then I suggest you watch the last video for today, which personally impressed me very much. They say that a man in Australia hit a kangaroo, and it came to his house to take revenge. It's just some kind of horror movie!

By the way, have you seen what kind of claws a kangaroo has?! If not, take a look:
