Expressway collapses in China (3 photos + 1 video)
Several spans of the highway, with a total area of almost 200 square meters, could not withstand the heavy rains.
The tragedy occurred at 2 a.m. in Guangdong Province, when a landslide accident occurred on the Chayang section of the Meida Expressway. Several vehicles were on the freeway at the time of the collapse. Eyewitnesses claim that the cars fell one after another, caught fire and exploded.
Around noon on the 1st, Beijing News reported that Meizhou police said the accident resulted in one death and 30 injuries. Most of the victims were from Fujian province, and some of the victims were residents of nearby areas.
The victims' injuries are mainly fractures and internal injuries. Currently, 11 victims are in the Dapu County People's Hospital of Meizhou City, and 19 victims are in the Meizhou City People's Hospital.
To date, 19 people have been killed and at least 31 injured.
