What do we know about real football fans? This is not a rabid crowd of raging people, but real and devoted fans who, even after death, do not want to leave their favorite stadium. 
Since 2017, fans have not been allowed onto the pitch at Portsmouth's home ground, but after the 3-2 victory over Barnsley, which marked the club's return to the championship, fans were allowed onto the pitch. And, as practice has shown, in vain. 
The Portsmouth club won at home and guaranteed itself a ticket to the second most important division of English football - the Championship. The team has not participated in the tournament since 2012 and managed to go through a serious crisis, so fans loudly celebrated their return to the tournament.
After the referee's final whistle, fans ran onto the Fratton Park lawn to share the joy with their favorites. While the crowd was jumping around in joy, two fans decided to fulfill their friend's last wish - they scattered his ashes over the field. 
It is unlikely that any of them realized that human remains in concentrated form would ruin the lawn - they contain potassium and calcium phosphate, which destroys the grass. The affected areas were the penalty area and the center circle. As a result, staff at Fratton Park had to rush to replace the turf so that it could host the match within five days. Portsmouth Football Club declined to comment.
Regarding the incident, Hampshire Police told SunSport: "We are aware of the incident but at this time we do not have a formal complaint regarding this matter."
