In the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me, James Bond famously disappeared under the waves aboard his Lotus Esprit. The other day, the American company Triton presented an underwater vehicle that agent 007 could only dream of.

The Triton 660 AVA has a clear acrylic body that allows passengers to feel at one with the ocean depths. Diving to a depth of 200 meters, guests can enjoy dinner or even get married.

The cost of the capsule is $6.3 million.

Florida-based Triton is best known for its submersible, the DSV Limiting Factor, which sank to the RMS Titanic in 2019.

On its website, the manufacturer claims that the 660 AVA provides an "entertainment-focused underwater experience."

"Operators can take advantage of this space to provide the most discerning guests with never-before-seen experiences, from cocktail parties and casinos to weddings and private dinners," the article states.

The boat has a capacity of nine people: eight passengers and the captain.

The cozy cabin has comfortable leather seats, as well as built-in lighting and a surround sound audio system.

The underwater vehicle is controlled using a Hammerhead controller via a wireless network from anywhere inside the cabin. Thus, the captain can move around the underwater vehicle and still control it or even transfer control to the guest.

Patrick Lahey, CEO and co-founder of Triton, said: "There is a huge difference between OceanGate's experimental aberration and the carefully engineered craft created by legitimate manufacturers like Triton."

The Titan bathyscaphe, built and operated by fellow US company OceanGate, suffered a “catastrophic implosion” en route to the wreck of the RMS Titanic in June 2023.

Five people on board died instantly, including OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who called deep-sea travel aboard Titan "safer than crossing the street."

Titanic director James Cameron, known for his deep-sea expeditions, said that Titan's "Achilles heel" was its carbon fiber hull.
