A woman tricked a gas station and pumped out 28 thousand liters of gasoline for free (1 photo)
In November 2022, 45-year-old Dawn Thompson in the US state of Nebraska accidentally discovered that gas pumps at Bosselman Enterprise gas stations were easy to defraud. To do this, just insert the bonus card twice in a row. After that, they go into demo mode and stop taking money for gasoline. 
The woman took advantage of this opportunity for almost seven months and by June 2023 she pumped out 28 thousand liters of gasoline at the Bosselman Enterprise gas station without paying a penny for it. The damage caused amounted to more than 27.8 thousand dollars.
In October 2023, the company contacted the police. The investigation revealed that the vulnerability is related to a software update for gas pumps installed in November 2022. The attacker was identified after studying the recordings made by CCTV cameras.
Thompson was detained in March. She was given bail at $7,500.
