Caution! The post contains shocking material. Make sure you really want to see it and you are over 18 years old.

Most of the characters who lived during the heyday of the freak show accepted their fate and even tried to find something positive in their characteristics.

But in the case of this man, who combined two non-standard characteristics at once, which, it seemed, should contribute to commercial success, everything was different.

Carrie Akers became a dual figure in the world of freak shows - a woman who was both a dwarf and a fat lady.

Although the date of her birth is not certain, it is known that Carrie was from Virginia. She weighed, according to some sources, 140 kilograms, and her height was only 86 centimeters. According to these characteristics, she was both a dwarf and a fat woman, that is, a “double figure.”

Unlike the usually quite positive artists of her time, Carrie, as can be seen from her photo, was a very sour, depressed, embittered and, as they say today, toxic person.

Her reputation was so bad that, in the end, the woman was expelled from the specific community, because Carrie had a serious quarrel with P. T. Barnum, the largest figure in American show business of the 19th century. So serious that the showman dropped the potentially lucrative Carrie from his roster of performers. In addition, the unflattering nickname “Warthog” was given to her not so much because of her size, but because of her hot temper and rudeness. Warthogs are known to be quite aggressive creatures and can calmly attack even enemies that are several times their size.

There were rumors that Carrie was trying to get back into the business by taking on another role - that of a bearded woman. But the spoiled relationship with Barnum forever put an end to her future career.

Most photographs of the Warthog date from 1888-1889, and only a few of her photographs have survived to this day. This suggests that Akers' career was not very successful, most likely due to her rude nature. After a promising start and an inglorious departure, almost no information has survived about Carrie.
