An extreme sports enthusiast staged a risky shoot in the “Devil’s Font” (6 photos + 1 video)

In southern Africa, on the Zambezi River, there is the largest waterfall on the planet - Victoria (width - 1800 meters, height - 120 meters). At the top of the waterfall there is a natural depression that forms something like a pool. This place on the very edge of the cliff next to the abyss is called the “Devil’s Font.” Of course, there are people who dream of swimming there!

American Christine Torres went on an excursion to Victoria Falls in early March and descended into the Devil's Font. From September to December, the current in this place is relatively weak, but now it is not at all safe.

The video will not let you lie - the woman spread her arms and seemed to be hanging over the edge of a cliff, washed by strong streams of water trying to fall down.

Christine smiles at the camera. She doesn’t seem to be nervous at all - but at this moment the only thing that saves her from disaster is the hands of the guide, who firmly holds her ankles.

Christine runs safari tour company Born To Dream Tours with her husband Ryan, offering guests the opportunity to tour Victoria Falls through a partner tour company.

The 39-year-old admits the shoot was "nerve-wracking" due to the extremely strong water flows. But what won’t you do for business?

She has taken tourists to the giant waterfall in the past, and recently hosted a trip to the Devil's Font. But the clients, having seen the scale of the waterfall in person, refused any extreme...

Christine posted a video of her risky swim on social media to promote her trip to the waterfall. But many questioned the safety of her stunt and said just watching the video almost gave them a heart attack. Although they praised Christine for her courage.

“Ryan and I decided the best way to experience Victoria Falls was to climb to the top,” she said. - We had to be nervous. One of the most scary moments was going to the edge, because the water pressure is very strong. But once you get in the water, it's like a Jacuzzi, the water is very warm and relaxing."

“The guide took us to the shooting location and took us out one by one, each of us had about 10 minutes. While you are in the water, you are held by your ankles. The water pressure is very strong, but it almost presses you against the rock, it acts like a natural suction cup. Another scary moment is when you have to lie on your back with your head in the water and you can’t hear anything, so you can’t tell if the guide is giving directions, and you can’t see anything. “And small fishes bit me on the legs, and I was scared, because no one warned about this.”

“I’ve never been afraid of heights, but being on the rocks so close to the edge and looking at the waterfall made my heart stop. My husband is terribly afraid of heights. He wasn't sure he could handle the Devil's Font when he went up there, but he did. I think he was able to overcome his fear of heights, but his hands were shaking.

Definitely worth the risk. I love to travel on adventures, and when I saw the Devil's Font a long time ago, I knew I had to go for it, because it is one of the seven wonders of the world."
