You drank tea for bedtime, took melatonin, you have a sleep mask and the desire to get a good night's sleep - so why can't you fall asleep anyway?

According to sleep experts, there may be other aspects of your diet that you haven't considered that are keeping you up at night.

It would seem that what’s wrong with treating yourself to a slice of pizza or ice cream before bed. We're not going to eat the whole pizza or eat three scoops of ice cream. We're not going to, are we? Okay, this post is not about the night watch, but about what foods to eat in general for the coming sleep.

The most harmful thing is to eat spicy food with a lot of spices in the evening.

“Eating spicy foods before bed can cause acid reflux, which can cause the brain to become overly aroused,” Dr. Ruchir P. Patel, a sleep medicine physician and medical director of the Arizona Insomnia and Sleep Institute.

Eating tomatoes and all products containing tomato paste and sauces is also not worth it. Eating a big Italian dinner or eating pizza while watching a movie on Saturday night can ruin your efforts to fall asleep early. Tomatoes, like spices, cause active activity in our gastrointestinal tract, which does not help sleep at all. If you have pepperoni pizza planned for the evening, eat it 4 hours before bed.

Burgers with red meat and lots of sauces are best left for lunch. The body needs a lot of time to digest everything.

Treating yourself to a cake at night is a so-so idea. Any dessert high in sugar can disrupt your sleep if eaten too late in the evening.

High sugar content can cause fluctuations in blood sugar levels and stomach problems, doctors say.

If you think peppermint tea will calm you down, it won't. Peppermint can be an excellent reason to stay awake for a long time, and all because it can also cause acid reflux.

Speaking of reflux, these are stomach problems. Symptoms - heartburn, pain in the sternum, sour belching, regurgitation, nausea, painful and difficult passage of food, discomfort after eating, flatulence. Such a treat for the night.

By the way, milk and flavored soda are also on the list of prohibitions.

Let's talk about nice things you can eat before bed. Evil doctors generally do not recommend eating enough at night, as if they do not know that all food tastes better at night. They recommend snacking on a handful of nuts because they contain fiber and unsaturated fat.

Are there few or no nuts? We eat chicken, fish, whole grain bread and rice, but brown. Adding soy sauce to white rice does not mean it will turn brown. It's a pity.

Let's hold on, friends, hold on!
