A ton of chewed gum is the most unhygienic attraction in the world (10 photos + 1 video)
In China there is the Great Wall of China, in Germany there is the Berlin Wall, in Jerusalem there is the Wailing Wall, in Paris there is the Wall of Love. And in Seattle, America, there is a chewing gum wall.
Although why is this place called a wall? This is a whole alley, completely covered with chewed multi-colored chewing gum.
Postal Lane in Seattle. This place is called the bubblegum wall.
And not only the walls here are covered with a thick layer of chewing gum to a height that the tallest and longest-armed tourists and locals could reach.
All pipes, all communications and even windows are all covered in chewing gum.

The Chewing Gum Wall has been voted one of the most unhygienic attractions in the world. Still would! Do you know how many bacteria, viruses and fungi live in the mouth of each of us? Researchers estimate from 200 to 500 species!
And just imagine how many of these little creatures (or their corpses) are on the walls of Pochtovy Lane.

They say that the very first chewing gum here was started by students standing in line for tickets to the Market Theater back in 1993. Actually, one of the walls of the alley is the wall of this theater.
And by the way, the students didn't just put their chewing gum on the wall. For some reason they glued coins to it - a kind of student tradition.

The theater administration cleaned the wall several times. However, it quickly grew back into shapeless multi-colored lumps.
In 1999, the management of the establishment gave up and stopped trying.

For sixteen years, until 2015, no one cleaned the walls of the alley, and the layer of chewing gum continuously grew. They say that in some places its thickness reached 10 centimeters!
The Bubblegum Wall has become a tourist attraction.

But in 2015, Seattle authorities finally decided to put an end to this unhygienic disgrace. They said the wall attracted hordes of rats. I didn’t even know that rats chew gum too.☺
The wall was cleaned over several days. To avoid damaging the brickwork, steam under pressure was used. They used it to soften a layer of chewing gum that had hardened over many years, which then fell off in thick layers.

Well, or thin - if there wasn’t very much chewing gum stuck on some part of the wall:

As a result of the cleaning, more than a ton of chewing gum was removed from the walls of Pochtovy Lane!
Do you think that after this general cleaning the wall remained clean for a long time? No matter how it is! They immediately began to tape it up again.
The most unhygienic attraction has quickly returned! They say there is a constant smell of mint and strawberries in the alley.

And what tricks some people make for the sake of a stunning photograph or scandalous video.
This girl does this too! And nothing that is unhygienic, that there are viruses, bacteria and their corpses everywhere... Horror!
