Friends laughed at the boy because of his dream of space - but a NASA astronaut changed everything (6 photos + 1 video)
Childhood is the time when we most often dream a lot and boldly. Especially about what we want to become when we grow up. This 6-year-old boy loves space and everything connected with it. But the kids in the kindergarten laughed at his dreams of space, and T-shirts with astronauts and planets... Until a real NASA astronaut recorded a video for him.
A girl named Meg recently posted a video on her TikTok that has been viewed more than 14 million times. There she said that her 6-year-old brother was mocked in kindergarten. One day a boy came home and threw out all his T-shirts with pictures of space and planets - because the children from his kindergarten thought they were “stupid”. The boy's sister posted a video where she explains the situation in tears.
According to the girl, the children in the kindergarten called her brother “not cool” because he did not wear branded items, but ordinary T-shirts with images of planets, space and astronauts. The boy himself really loves space and everything connected with it - but because of the ridicule of his friends, he no longer wears them, and has abandoned his dreams of space. Millions of people supported the boy in the comments, but later one unusual message awaited him..
One of NASA astronauts, Jose Hernandez, recorded a video response to the boy. His daughter showed him Meg's video, and the man decided to post a response. He said that you should never give up on your dreams:
"Keep wearing T-shirts with space, planets and rockets. I never gave up. Even if my friends said it was a stupid idea, I just went forward with my dream. You should not be afraid to wear clothes with a space theme. You should be proud of it, and hopefully, if you study well, someday we can work together here at NASA," the astronaut said in the video.
It turned out that Jose himself was also once mocked - and he would never have flown into space if he had listened to someone’s opinion. His journey into space was not an easy one: he was rejected by NASA 11 times before finally flying on the space shuttle Discovery. Because he stayed true to himself, he achieved his dream.
The boy was incredibly happy with this video response. According to Meg, at first he did not believe that a real astronaut was watching her video. But then he was happy and said that perhaps he would wear T-shirts with space again.
