Our planet now has another artificial satellite, thanks to two inattentive female NASA astronauts.

Jasmine Moghbeli and Loral O'Hara were scheduled to perform routine maintenance on the ISS skin in outer space on November 1. There, at an altitude of more than 320 km from the surface of the Earth, a white bag with tools slipped away from the ladies. And yes, this was their very first spacewalk.

Last week, Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa discovered it, but it is no longer possible to return the lost bag. It is now officially space junk number 58229/1998-067WC.

This bag can be seen from Earth through binoculars. To track the bag, observers only need to locate the ISS; the bag will be in Earth's orbit two to four minutes ahead of the ISS.

The same bag with tools

According to EarthSky, preliminary estimates indicate that the tool bag should burn into the atmosphere around March 2024.

By the way, this case is not isolated. In 2008, under the same circumstances, another American lady astronaut, Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper, was left without a bag of tools. According to her, a special grease gun was to blame, which stained her hands and the video camera on her helmet. While trying to clean the chamber, she let go of the bag with the tools, and then take it and fly away into outer space.
