Chinese air taxi made the world's first intercity flight (2 photos + 1 video)
The thing accelerates to 200 km/h. Perhaps it will soon replace the transport we are used to.
The Chinese are mastering the airspace with might and main. Air taxi company AutoFlight flew along the Shenzhen-Zhuhai route and set a kind of record: 50 kilometers in 20 minutes. The cities are separated by the wide Pearl River Delta and a regular car would cover this distance in a couple of hours.
It rushes at speeds of up to 200 km/h. Flight range is up to 250 kilometers. Can carry four passengers. There are 10 electric motors with propellers located on the beams; they operate only during vertical movements of the aircraft. In horizontal flight, the device is driven by a tail electric motor with a propeller with transition to flight on the wings. How much it will cost is still silent.
The AutoFlight office is not going to stop at one intercity flight - by 2026 it wants to obtain permission for commercial flights and capture the entire sky in a single province. In the Shenzhen area alone, up to 300 thousand flights are expected per year.
I wonder how they will control the airspace with such traffic? For example, in civil aviation everything is already regulated, but there are still questions here. Some people still sneer at the quality of Chinese cars and think that it is too early for them to experiment with air taxis.
By the way, in China there is already a company called eHang with a two-seater flying machine EH 216-S.
But their device is two-seater, and it costs a cosmic $333 thousand. At such prices, one can hardly expect frenzied demand. Although, who knows.
