A Spanish court sentenced former Barcelona and Brazil footballer Dani Alves to 4.5 years in prison for sexual assault. The fatal event for Alves occurred on December 30, 2022 at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona. The Brazilian entered into an intimate relationship with a girl who later accused him of rape. In particular, she stated that the football player hit her, threw her on the floor, forced her to have oral sex, despite active resistance, and then raped her.
Since January 2023, the football player has been in custody and was deprived of the right to be released on bail. Over the next year, the legendary football player tried to prove his innocence, claiming that sex with the victim was consensual. However, his version, as often happens in such high-profile media cases, seemed unconvincing to the investigation. The court found it proven that the girl did not consent to sexual contact. The state prosecution was furious, demanding 9 years in prison for the defendant. But in the end he got off with, if you can call it that, half that sentence.
